Emergency Certificate (EC)
An Emergency Certificate is a one-way travel document which authorizes an Indian national to enter India. It is issued to those whose passport has been lost, stolen or damaged and to whom a new passport cannot be issued immediately. This service is primarily extended with the objective of ensuring a transit passenger´s return to India.
You may apply for this service in case:
- You are an India national on a Tourist visavisiting Burkina Faso and your passport is lost / damaged
- If for any reasons, you want to travel to India on emergency basis and your current passport cannot be used for reasons of expired validity/damaged/lost.
For Issuance of Emergency Certificate (EC) you will need to submit the following documents:
- Duly filled and printed online application form (https://mportal.passportindia.gov.in/mission/) with ink signature on the last page in signature box.
- 02 colour photos, Size 35mmX45mm, Pixel 630:810 and Aspect ratio 7:9 with a uniform background white /light blue color. Photo specification
- Please upload your signature. Your signature must be clear, dark, and set against a clean white background. Guidelines for Signature.
- Copy of police report in case of lost/stolen/misplaced (The police report must have name of the applicant (s) and a reference of loss of passport)
- Self-attested copies of first and last page of your current passport
- Self-attested copies of your residence permit/VISA/certificate
- Copy of journey tickets (flight tickets) to India (If applicable)
- Self Declaration/ Undertaking-Reason for applying Emergency Certificate
In case of minor, the following also needs to be submitted along with the above documents:
- Duly filled and printed Annexure ‘D’ signed by both parents (ANNEXURE D)
OR
- Duly filled and printed Annexure ‘C’ signed by Single parents (ANNEXURE C)
